Do popular Weight-Loss drugs require stricter fasting before surgery?
NCT ID NCT07251803
Summary
This study aims to find out if the standard fasting rules before surgery are safe for people taking GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro. Researchers will compare two groups: one following the usual 8-hour fast and another on a 24-hour liquid-only diet. Using an ultrasound, they will measure stomach contents to see if the risk of having leftover food or fluid is the same with both fasting methods.
