Summary

This study looks at whether people taking GLP-1 receptor agonists (like Ozempic or Wegovy) need a longer fast before surgery. These drugs slow down stomach emptying, which might increase the risk of food or liquid entering the lungs during anesthesia. Researchers will use ultrasound to measure stomach contents in 100 adults scheduled for elective surgery to help create better fasting guidelines.
