Patients help design gloves to fight Chemo's numbness and tingling

NCT ID NCT06873360

Summary

This study aimed to design a medical device, likely a cooling glove, to prevent nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) caused by a common chemotherapy drug called oxaliplatin. Researchers interviewed 50 patients with gastrointestinal cancer who had experienced this nerve pain to get their direct input on the device's design. The goal was to create a comfortable, usable glove prototype that patients would be willing to wear during treatment to potentially prevent this debilitating side effect.
