NCT ID NCT07050173

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing whether an oral supplement called gamma-glutamylcysteine (GGC) can increase a key antioxidant in the brain and blood of 30 people who have had repeated head impacts, such as retired NFL players and military veterans. The goal is to see if the supplement can reduce oxidative stress and potentially improve thinking and memory. This is a phase 1 study focused on safety and measuring changes in brain chemistry, not yet a proven treatment.
