Scientists trace diabetes risk from parents to unborn baby through blood

NCT ID NCT07436195

Summary

This study aims to understand how a mother's gestational diabetes and both parents' metabolism might affect the baby's gene regulation before birth. Researchers will recruit 80 couples where the mother is 24-28 weeks pregnant, with and without gestational diabetes. They will analyze blood samples from both parents and use a special technique to examine fetal DNA from the mother's blood, looking for patterns that could explain how diabetes risk is passed on.
