Summary

This study compares two ways of giving surfactant, a medicine that helps premature babies' lungs work better. The standard method uses a breathing tube, which can be uncomfortable and risky. The newer method uses a soft mask placed in the throat. The goal is to see if the gentler method works just as well to prevent the need for a breathing machine. The study will include 440 preterm babies born before 34 weeks and weighing at least 750 grams.
