First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether checking a person's genes before prescribing the gout drug allopurinol can prevent rare but life-threatening skin reactions. About 228 Vietnamese adults with gout will either get the genetic test or standard care. Those with a high-risk gene will receive a safer alternative drug instead.
