Personalized stroke prevention: gene test may pick better blood thinner

NCT ID NCT06714526

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a genetic test can help doctors pick the right blood thinner for people who have had a stroke due to narrowed arteries in the brain. Some people's genes make the common drug clopidogrel less effective, so another drug called ticagrelor may work better. About 100 participants will either get standard care or genetic testing to guide their medication, and researchers will check for new strokes and side effects over 90 days.
