AI vs. doctor: who diagnoses better?

NCT ID NCT07374926

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether a large language model (a type of AI) can improve how doctors think through medical cases. 249 physicians in internal or family medicine reviewed fictional patient stories, some with AI help and some without. Researchers scored their answers to see if AI boosted accuracy. The goal was to understand AI's potential in medical training and practice, not to treat any real disease.
