Gene therapy hearing put to the test against cochlear implants
NCT ID NCT06237790
Summary
This study aims to understand how well children with a specific genetic form of deafness (DFNB9) can hear and understand sounds after receiving either a new gene therapy or a traditional cochlear implant. Researchers will compare 180 participants, including children who have had either treatment and healthy children, to measure their ability to hear speech in noisy places, understand music, and locate sounds. The goal is to learn which treatment leads to better overall hearing and quality of life to help guide future care.
