One-Time shot aims to restore hearing in deafness caused by gene fault

Summary
This early-stage trial is testing a one-time gene therapy for people born with profound hearing loss due to specific mutations in the otoferlin gene. Researchers will inject a modified virus carrying a corrected gene directly into the inner ear during surgery to see if it's safe and if it can help restore hearing. The study will also test a special device designed to deliver the therapy precisely.
