Gene injection tested to ease debilitating diabetic pain

NCT ID NCT01002235

Summary

This early-stage study tested the safety of a new gene therapy called Engensis (VM202) for people with painful nerve damage caused by diabetes. Twelve participants received injections in their leg muscles to see if the treatment was safe and if it could reduce their chronic pain. The main goal was to check for side effects, while also measuring any changes in pain levels over a year.
