Scientists launch 20-Year hunt for genetic cure to hereditary deafness

NCT ID NCT04501081

Summary

This study aims to understand how inherited hearing loss progresses over time in families and to test in the lab whether advanced gene-editing tools could correct the genetic errors that cause it. Researchers will follow 1,100 participants, including people with the condition and their family members, for up to 20 years, tracking their hearing and collecting samples. The goal is to gather essential information to prepare for potential future gene therapy trials.
