Can getting men more involved in childcare boost vaccination rates? new study aims to find out.
NCT ID NCT06258200
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether community-based programs that encourage men to share childcare and support immunization can improve gender equity and vaccine uptake. About 448 caregivers in Togo and Pakistan will either receive household visits, couples discussions, and community leader messages, or no intervention. Researchers will compare changes in how couples divide tasks and whether children get their vaccines on time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Community-based gender transformative intervention (household visits, couples communication groups, community leader messaging)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that involving men in childcare and immunization decisions boosts vaccine rates and fairness at home.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage behavioral study with 448 participants. Results may not apply to other regions or cultures, and behavior change can be hard to sustain.
