New procedure could help people with paralyzed stomachs

NCT ID NCT05039424

Summary

This study is testing whether a minimally invasive procedure called endoscopic pyloromyotomy can help people with severe gastroparesis, a condition where the stomach doesn't empty properly. Researchers are comparing the real procedure against a sham (fake) procedure in 100 adults whose symptoms haven't improved with diet changes or medications. The goal is to see if cutting a small muscle in the stomach opening improves symptoms and stomach emptying over 12 weeks.
