Scientists probe mysterious stomach valve in gastroparesis patients

NCT ID NCT04661215

Summary

This study aims to understand if problems with the pyloric sphincter—the muscle valve between the stomach and small intestine—are common in people experiencing symptoms of gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying). Researchers will compare 150 participants with gastroparesis symptoms to control participants using specialized tests during an endoscopy procedure. The goal is to gather knowledge about potential physical causes of these digestive symptoms, which could inform future treatments.
