Do underweight Kids' stomachs empty faster before surgery?
NCT ID NCT06522204
Summary
This study aimed to understand if underweight children process clear fluids differently than healthy-weight children before surgery. Researchers measured how long it took for a small, safe amount of sugary water to leave the stomachs of 60 children aged 6-14 using ultrasound. The goal was to gather information to help make preoperative fasting guidelines safer for all children, especially those who are underweight.
