New dye could make gallbladder surgery safer and faster

NCT ID NCT04103762

Summary

This study tested whether a special green dye injected into patients' veins helps surgeons see bile ducts better during gallbladder removal surgery compared to the standard contrast method. Researchers enrolled 156 adults with acute gallbladder inflammation to see if the dye method reduces the risk of accidentally damaging bile ducts and shortens surgery time. The goal was to find a safer, more efficient way to perform this common emergency surgery.
