New eye drops aim to halt blind spot growth in macular degeneration
NCT ID NCT06659549
First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether daily GAL-101 eye drops can slow the growth of geographic atrophy, a type of vision loss in age-related macular degeneration. About 110 adults aged 55 and older with early-stage geographic atrophy will receive either the active eye drops or a placebo. The goal is to see if the treatment can preserve central vision by preventing the blind spot from reaching the center of the retina.
