Hidden danger: lymphedema raises fall risk in breast cancer survivors

NCT ID NCT07420725

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at how breast cancer-related lymphedema (arm swelling) affects walking, balance, and the risk of falling. Researchers compared 42 women with lymphedema to healthy women of the same age. They used special tools to measure walking patterns, balance, fear of falling, and arm function. The goal is to understand if the extra weight from swelling shifts the body's center of gravity and increases fall risk.
