New eye injection trial aims to slow blinding disease

NCT ID NCT07441642

Summary

This study is testing different doses of an investigational eye injection called FWY003 to see if it can slow the progression of geographic atrophy, a late-stage form of age-related macular degeneration that causes permanent vision loss. About 272 participants aged 50+ with this condition will receive either the drug or a placebo injection to compare results. The main goal is to find the most effective and safe dose by measuring changes in the size of the damaged area in the retina and checking vision under various lighting conditions.
