Simple urine test may predict kidney failure in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT06765031

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a furosemide stress test (a type of urine test) can help doctors predict if kidney injury will get worse in intensive care patients. About 140 adults with early-stage acute kidney injury will receive a single dose of furosemide, and their urine output will be measured. The goal is to see if this test can identify who will need dialysis or progress to severe kidney damage, helping doctors make better treatment decisions.
