Could a common food fiber ease IBS pain? study investigates
NCT ID NCT04830410
Summary
This study investigated whether fructans, a type of fiber found in foods like wheat and onions, could help manage symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D). Researchers compared fructan supplements to a placebo in 65 participants to see if they improved gut symptoms, quality of life, and gut bacteria. The goal was to understand if this specific fiber helps more than it harms for people with IBS.
