New pain relief hope for elderly frozen shoulder patients
NCT ID NCT07088562
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested a treatment called pulsed radiofrequency on the suprascapular nerve to relieve pain and improve shoulder function in 32 elderly patients with frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). The treatment uses low-temperature energy to block pain signals without damaging the nerve. Researchers measured pain levels and disability scores to see if it helps this hard-to-treat condition.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
pulsed radiofrequency applied to the suprascapular nerve
What this could lead to
If effective, this could provide a safer, non-destructive pain relief option for elderly patients with frozen shoulder, reducing the need for surgery or strong painkillers.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 32 participants and no control group, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is for symptom relief, not a cure.
