Breast cancer surgery study: does a quick lab test during operation improve care?
NCT ID NCT07591506
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether examining lymph nodes during breast cancer surgery helps doctors decide on the spot if more lymph nodes need to be removed. About 142 women with breast cancer who haven't had prior treatment will be randomly assigned to either get this quick test during surgery or wait for standard lab results after surgery. The goal is to see if the immediate test changes surgical decisions and reduces the need for a second operation.
