Study tests gentler gum surgery to prevent relapse and reduce pain

NCT ID NCT06331325

Summary

This study compared two minor surgical procedures used to correct a high frenum attachment—the small fold of tissue connecting the lip to the gums. Researchers wanted to see if a newer, less invasive technique (frenotomy) resulted in fewer cases of the problem returning and less post-surgery pain compared to the traditional, more extensive procedure (frenectomy). They measured the outcomes in 46 healthy, non-smoking adults over six months.
