Simple scan could predict recovery for frail ICU patients

NCT ID NCT07310667

Summary

This study aims to understand if measuring thigh muscle thickness with a simple, bedside ultrasound scan can help predict frailty, malnutrition risk, and length of hospital stay in elderly patients who are critically ill. Researchers will observe 80 patients aged 65 and over in an intensive care unit, taking ultrasound measurements and assessing their health status. The goal is to find a faster, safer, and cheaper way to spot patients at higher risk so they can get better care.
