AI vs. anesthesiologists: who rates surgery risk better when frailty is considered?

This study looked at how anesthesiologists and artificial intelligence (AI) models rate surgical risk using the ASA classification system. Researchers wanted to see if adding a frailty score (a measure of weakness and vulnerability) changes those ratings. They observed 200 adult patients scheduled for elective surgery and compared the ratings from four doctors and two AI models. The goal was to understand differences in how humans and AI think about risk, and whether frailty should be included more formally.
