New gout drug study: does food change how it works?
NCT ID NCT07346027
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This early-stage trial will test a new drug called F-02-2-Na, designed to lower high uric acid levels (which can cause gout). Twelve healthy adults will take the drug once on an empty stomach and once after a meal to see if food changes how the drug is absorbed. The main goal is to check safety and measure drug levels in the blood, not to treat any disease.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
F-02-2-Na (a drug for lowering uric acid)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help determine the best way to take F-02-2-Na (with or without food) for future trials in people with high uric acid or gout.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 study with only 12 healthy people, so it won't show if the drug actually works for the disease. It only looks at safety and how food affects drug levels.
