Did early help last? study checks kids years later
NCT ID NCT07432971
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study follows 599 mother-child pairs in Bangladesh who received parenting training and unconditional cash support when the children were infants. Now aged 6-9, the children are tested for IQ, reading, and math skills to see if the early help still makes a difference. The goal is to understand whether simple early interventions can improve long-term development.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If the early benefits persist, this could show that simple parenting support and cash transfers have lasting positive effects on children's development.
What could go wrong
This is a follow-up observational study, not a new treatment. Results may show no lasting impact, and findings may not apply to other settings.
