First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether a silver-impregnated foam dressing works better than a standard foam dressing at preventing skin complications around the tracheostomy site in children. Fifty children aged 0-18 who had tracheostomy surgery were randomly assigned to one of the two dressings and followed for one month. The goal was to see which dressing reduced problems like infection, pressure ulcers, and skin breakdown.
