Poop pills vs. superbugs: new hope against Antibiotic-Resistant germs
NCT ID NCT05742074
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether transplanting healthy donor stool (fecal microbiota transplantation, or FMT) into the gut could wipe out multidrug-resistant organisms (MROs) in people who carry them without symptoms. 83 adults with MROs in their intestines received either FMT capsules or a placebo. The goal was to see if FMT could clear these superbugs and lower the risk of future hard-to-treat infections.
