Poop pills vs. UTIs: gut transplant trial aims to stop infections

NCT ID NCT07194941

Summary

This study tested whether transplanting healthy gut bacteria from a donor (via capsules) could prevent recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women. The goal was to find the right dose to change a patient's gut microbiome and stop infections from returning, offering a potential new option beyond repeated antibiotics. The trial involved 40 women who suffer from frequent UTIs.
