Could a poop pill help kids with autism?

NCT ID NCT07371013

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether a treatment called fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) can help children with autism who also have ongoing stomach problems like constipation or diarrhea. Researchers want to see if taking capsules containing gut bacteria from a healthy donor can improve both digestive symptoms and related behavioral challenges. The study will involve 20 children, aged 6 to 12, who will be randomly assigned to receive either the real treatment or a placebo pill for comparison.
