Antidepressant may boost vision in lazy eye patients

NCT ID NCT07417046

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding fluoxetine (a type of antidepressant) to standard eye patching can improve vision in people over age 10 with lazy eye (amblyopia). Lazy eye is a vision problem that usually can't be treated in adults because the brain stops being flexible enough. The study will use special eye scans and brain wave tests to measure changes in vision. About 50 participants will be divided into three groups to compare the combination treatment against patching alone.
