Surgery fluid puzzle: does more or less IV fluid harm your blood vessels?

NCT ID NCT07192523

Summary

This study aimed to understand how different amounts of IV fluids given during lung surgery affect the delicate, protective lining inside blood vessels. Researchers compared a lower fluid rate (3 ml/kg/hr) to a higher rate (8 ml/kg/hr) in 41 adults undergoing surgery. They measured specific markers in the blood before, during, and after surgery to see which fluid regimen caused less potential damage to the vessels.
