Targeted fluids fight Post-Surgery brain fog

NCT ID NCT06797713

Summary

This study tested whether carefully managing a patient's fluids and blood pressure during heart bypass surgery could help prevent post-operative cognitive dysfunction (POCD), a common condition involving confusion and memory problems. Researchers monitored 60 patients using special equipment to guide fluid and medication delivery precisely. The goal was to see if this targeted approach improved blood flow to the brain and reduced inflammation, potentially lowering the risk of cognitive decline after surgery.
