Doctors test if fluid strategy affects airway swelling in surgery

NCT ID NCT07477392

Summary

This study looked at whether the way fluids are given during long spine surgery affects swelling in the throat area. Researchers compared a standard fluid plan to a more precise, monitor-guided plan in 145 adults having surgery on their back while lying face down. They used ultrasound to measure throat structures before and after surgery to see if the fluid strategy made a difference.
