Doctors test new fluid check for safer surgery breathing

NCT ID NCT04118244

Summary

This study tested a new method to figure out if surgery patients on a special, gentler type of lung ventilation need more fluids. Researchers worked with 48 adults having abdominal surgery to see if temporary changes in breathing pressure could reliably predict who would benefit from extra IV fluids. The goal was to develop a better tool for anesthesiologists to use in the operating room when standard monitors are less effective.
