Sickle cell study tests best way to give fluids during pain crises
NCT ID NCT07188766
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving less fluid during a sickle cell pain crisis works as well as giving more fluid, while causing fewer side effects like fluid overload. About 394 adults with sickle cell disease will be randomly assigned to one of two fluid plans. The main goal is to see if pain scores improve similarly with less fluid, which could lead to safer and simpler treatment guidelines.
