New combo therapy aims to beat blood cancer in seniors

Summary
This study tests a treatment plan for adults aged 60 and older with newly diagnosed, high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or similar blood cancers. The plan combines strong chemotherapy (FLAG-Ida) with a donor stem cell transplant shortly after, aiming to shorten the dangerous period of low blood counts and improve survival. About 20 participants will be enrolled to see if this approach is safe and effective.
