Fish oil IV trial offers hope for critically ill newborns
NCT ID NCT04031508
Summary
This study is testing whether adding fish oil to intravenous nutrition can help control a dangerous lung condition in newborns with a diaphragm defect. The trial will compare fish oil IV to standard soy oil IV in 40 infants to see if it reduces lung pressure, inflammation, and pain. The goal is to find a better way to manage this serious condition while babies recover from surgery.
