Hospital blood tests uncover hidden diabetes epidemic
NCT ID NCT04653545
Summary
This study aimed to find out how many people arriving at the emergency room had undiagnosed diabetes or pre-diabetes. Researchers checked the blood sugar levels of over 10,000 patients aged 30 and older using blood samples that were already being taken for their care. The goal was to see if this simple check during a hospital visit is a good way to spot diabetes early, so people can get the right treatment sooner.
