First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a temporary balloon placed in the fetus's windpipe (FETO) can help resolve high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) by age 1 in babies with severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia. About 80 pregnant women carrying affected fetuses will take part—40 receiving the balloon procedure and 40 as a comparison group. The goal is to see if FETO improves lung development and survival.
