Doctors aim to cure devastating genetic disease before baby is born
NCT ID NCT07408583
Summary
This study is testing a new treatment for babies diagnosed with Fanconi anemia while still in the womb. Doctors will collect stem cells from the mother and transplant them into the fetus, hoping to fix the baby's bone marrow before birth. The goal is to prevent the severe bone marrow failure and high cancer risk that usually develops in childhood, potentially curing the disease.
