Doctors perform surgery on unborn babies to save kidneys and lungs
NCT ID NCT03281798
Summary
This study is testing a surgical procedure performed on unborn babies with a severe blockage in their urinary system. Doctors use a tiny camera (cystoscope) inserted through the mother's abdomen to try to open the blockage while the baby is still in the womb. The goal is to prevent permanent kidney damage and allow proper lung development before birth, potentially improving the baby's survival and health after delivery.
