Natural plant acid tested as new weapon against gum disease
NCT ID NCT07404072
Summary
This study is testing whether a gel made from ferulic acid, a natural compound found in plants, can help treat gum disease (periodontitis) when used alongside a standard dental cleaning. The research involves 80 healthy adults with moderate gum disease to see if the gel reduces gum pocket depth and inflammation better than cleaning alone. The goal is to find a safe, local treatment that avoids the side effects of long-term antibiotic use.
