Could a diabetes drug boost pregnancy chances for women with PCOS?

NCT ID NCT07462065

First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding pioglitazone (a diabetes medicine) to standard clomiphene citrate treatment can help women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) ovulate and get pregnant more often. About 62 women will be randomly assigned to receive either pioglitazone or a placebo, plus clomiphene citrate, and then undergo timed insemination. The researchers will track how many mature eggs develop and how many women become pregnant, while monitoring for side effects like swelling or weight gain.
