Cholesterol drug tested as potential new weapon against cervical cancer

NCT ID NCT06191133

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether fenofibrate, a common cholesterol medication, can help treat HPV-positive cervical cancer and high-grade precancerous changes. Researchers are giving the drug for a short period before planned surgery to see if it can restore the function of a key tumor-fighting protein (p53) and change how the tumor cells use energy. The study will analyze tissue samples from 24 participants to understand the drug's effects.
