NCT ID NCT07648719

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 60 older adults (average age 80) who had hip fracture surgery. Researchers compared two ways to open the thigh bone canal before inserting a metal rod: one using a curved awl guided by X-ray, the other using mechanical drilling. They measured blood markers of inflammation, clotting, organ function, and bone metabolism before and 72 hours after surgery to see if the technique made a difference.
